The passenger capacity of commercial passenger vehicle is 30.527 billion while the passenger kilometers are 1,502.081 billion, up 9.8% and 11.2%. The average mileage of freeway passenger is 99.24 km, among which the average inter-provincial mileage is 290.0 km.

Along with the expanding road network, increasing highway classification, enlarging urban scale, and fastening urbanization, the urban traffic location changes that the advancing locations focus on new highway intersection, new small towns and tourist attractions. Due to the low layout density and small coverage of original stations and nodes, it is an inevitable trend to add some new nodes, adjust the current distribution and functional partition, and establish a station layout which fit for the road network and urban scale.

The “twelfth five years” plan released by the Ministry of Transport draws a clear blue print for the construction and operation of road passenger transport center. First of all, the road passenger network will be constantly completed. According to the plan, the total highway mileage in China will reach 4.5 million km with an average annual growth of 100,000 km by the end of 2015. Secondly, China will construct more than 100 comprehensive passenger hubs which connecting with railway passenger transport, among which about 40 modern and large-scale comprehensive passenger hubs which roll highway, railway, rail transit, urban traffic, and taxi into one will be constructed in 36 key cities. The construction of the passenger hubs realizes the seamless integration of highway passenger transport, urban traffic and railway transport, enlarges the passenger volume, and further expands the market space of passenger vehicles. Moreover, the “encourage the development of middle and large-scale high-end passenger vehicles to realize the standardization and specialization of transport equipment” which is proposed in the “twelfth five years” plan increases the market share of middle and high-end passenger vehicles from 28% in 2010 to 40%. It means a great opportunity for road passenger transport center industry.
