China Second Hand Goods Industry Circulation Model and Investment Risk Analysis Report, 2013-2017

The state-owned trust trading company is the main body of second hand goods operation for a long time. Even though it plays an active role in realizing the use value of the second hand goods and meeting the consumption demand, it doesn’t drives enough attention and develops slowly or even backwards. With the reform deepening, the languished second hand goods industry starts to recover and develop in some large and middle size cities in China. The re-rise second hand goods market meets the social need and national condition.

According to statistics, by the end of 2010 there are about 5,000 nationwide second hand goods markets, over 5,500 second hand goods corporations, 18,000 private stores and nearly 5 million employees. Annual growth of China second hand goods trading volume from 2006 to 2010 is 15% which reaches about 300 billion Yuan by 2010.

Second hand goods circulation has developed from simply serving for residents’ living to serving for the corporations’ production and operation. While second hand goods trading have shifted emphasis of means of living to both means of living and production. By the end of 2010, trading volume of nationwide engineering plant second hand equipments has exceeded 100 billion Yuan with an annual growth rate of over 20%.

Base on the traditional second hand goods market, consignment store, second hand goods lease and flea market, new management models such as E-commerce and chain-store operations develop rapidly and related services like old-for-new service and maintenance are perfecting. The second hand circulation plays an important role in the aspects of meeting people’s need, easy consumption, upgrading and updating of commodities, enlarging domestic demand, promoting development of middle and small size corporations, job enlargement and recycling economy construction. However, there are many problems limit the development of second hand goods circulation industry, such as backward development of China second hand goods circulation comparing with that of economic society; lack of second hand operations; low credit for second hand goods trading; second hand goods corporations of small scale; less convenience for second hand goods circulation; lack of regulation for second hand goods market; circulation order needed to further standardized; less quality of second hand goods industry employees.
