In current years the annual growth of China flame retardant production is about 15% to 20% which is far higher than that of the global level of 3% to 4%. The production of domestic plastic products in 2010 is 58.3038 million tons. Suppose if the flame retardant plastic takes 20% of plastic products and 10% of flame retardant, the potential market scale of domestic flame retardant industry in 2010 is about 1.17 million tons while it is about 0.98 million tons in 2011.

Flame retardant is one of the fastest developing additives. The development trend to current global industry is green and environmental protection. It is an important basic for the development of flame retardant products in the future. The significance of flame retardant for the modern society cannot be ignored. However, a series of environmental protection policies issued by European countries limit the industry development and application in various degrees. It is predicted that the growth of brominated flame retardant will lag behind that of other flame retardants as it is under the product structure adjustment and transformation. Part of the flame retardants will step down from the stage of history while new flame retardants will spring up. There is a gap of flame retardant in category and amount between China and developed countries. The prospects for flame retardant are optimistic. China should improve the innovation capability and promote the industry develops towards environmental protection, low poison content, high efficiency and multi-functions.

Therefore, the publishment and gradual perfection of related laws and regulations at home and abroad will have an impact on the whole industry structure, and will provide opportunities for the corporations with resource, scale economy and R&D advantages.
