In 2010, China’s production and sales volume was 18.2647 million and 18.0619 million respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 32.44% and 32.37%, of which the production and sales volume of passenger vehicles was 13.8971 million and 13.7578, with a year-on-year increase of 33.83% and 33.17%; the production and sales volume of commercial vehicles was 4.3676 million and 4.3041 million, with a year-on-year increase of 28.19% and 29.90%.

After a robust growth of China automotive market in 2010, both the international and domestic automotive brands regard China's market as a big cake. Therefore, they launched a new round of competition to compete for more market shares. Either Medium-term Planning of International Automotive Brands, or Five Strategic Planning of Domestic Automotive Groups unexceptionally meet the demand for government's "Twelfth Five-year" Plan. The total sales target of six state-owned auto groups, including FAW, SAIC, Dongfeng Motor Group, Changan, GAIG, and BAI in 2015 is above 28 million vehicles. And the total production and marketing target of six self-owned brands, including JAC, Chery, Geely, BYD, Great Wall and Brilliance in 2015 is approximately 12 million vehicles. It's predicted only by their target, the sales volume of China's automobile will reach 40 million.

China auto finance market develops relatively late. Although the development speed of China automobile market has surpassed many markets, such as that of US, Europe and other countries and areas, it seems the development of China auto finance market is somewhat slow. At present, there are seldom customers purchase cars via auto the finance methods, in particular in the aspect of passenger vehicles, only 10% of them buy cars via loans. The average rate of car loans in the global auto market is about 70%, with 85% in US market, 80% in UK market and 70% in Germany market. Although this figure is a relatively low in China auto market, it also shows China auto finance market has the vast prospects for the development. And there are many opportunities in the market, which attract some auto enterprises’ attention, then they start to promote the development of auto finance market, so as to make breakthroughs in sales volume.

At the end of April 2010, China Citic Bank announced to cooperate with the COR-FISA, which affiliated with BBVA (Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA, a Spanish external bank) to set up an automobile financing joint venture with a registered capital of one billion Yuan. On June 21, 2010, BYD shared a notice that it would spend 400 million Yuan to establish an automobile financing joint venture in Shenzhen with CGL, affiliated with Societe Generale Bank, in purpose of offering financing business for domestic consumers to buy cars. On October 12, 2010, GMAC-SAIC Automotive Finance Company issued a RMB 1.5 billion, three-year, floating rate financial bond for the interbank market. It completed the first-ever financial bond issuance by an auto finance company in China, after China Banking Regulatory Commission announced the approval for issuing the bond. All capitals rush into China’s market, showing this cake is really attractive, which brings new driving force to China auto finance industry. The capital invasion tends to seek for new growth point, while it may also change the industry pattern.
