China Clean Development Mechanism(CDM) Industry Market Prospects and Investment Strategy Planning Report, 2013-2017

The CDM is the only existing internationally recognized carbon trading mechanism, which is generally applied to the reduction plans of all over the world. Even though Chinese or event global CDM also faces with some uncertainties and risks, and still can not determine the market size after 2012, the reduction has become an international trend.

As of the end of 2011, there were approved 3,105 CDM projects in China, of which there were 331 CDM projects in Yunnan provinces, ranking the top; and there were 292 CDM projects in Sichuan province, following the Yunnan province. It’s predicted the approved CDM projects will reduce 543 million tCO2e, among which Sichuan will reduce the largest quantity of emission. In terms of the type constitution of approved CDM projects, the CDM project types of new energy and renewable energy account for the largest proportion, with 71.63%, and the types of energy saving and efficiency improving follow up. In terms of annual emission reduction volume and reduction type constitution of approved CDM projects, it’s estimated the annual reduction volume of new energy and renewable energy account for the largest proportion, with 50.91%, followed by the types of energy saving and efficiency improving, with 15.28%.

As of the end of 2011, there were 1,503 registered CDM projects in China, of which there were 170 registered CDM projects in Yunnan province, with the largest quantity of the projects, followed by Inner Mongolia. It’s predicted the registered CDM projects will reduce 334 million tCO2e, of which Zhejiang has the largest annual emission volume. In terms of the type constitution of registered CDM projects, the CDM project types of new energy and renewable energy account for the largest proportion, with 80.73%, and the types of energy saving and efficiency improving follow up. In terms of annual emission reduction volume and reduction type constitution of registered CDM projects, it’s estimated the annual reduction volume of new energy and renewable energy account for the largest proportion, with 46.48%.

As of the end of 2011, there were 500 signed and issued CDM projects in China, of which there were 51 signed and issued CDM projects in Inner Mongolia, and there were 49 signed and issued CDM projects in Yunnan province. It’s predicted the signed and issued CDM projects will reduce 186 million tCO2e, of which Zhejiang has the largest annual emission volume. In terms of the type constitution of signed and issued CDM projects, the CDM project types of new energy and renewable energy account for the largest proportion, with 77.40%, and the types of energy saving and efficiency improving follow up. In terms of annual emission reduction volume and reduction type constitution of signed and issued CDM projects, it’s estimated the annual reduction volume of new energy and renewable energy account for the largest proportion, with 35.84, followed up by the types of new energy and renewable energy.
